Terms of Service

DebugDad is run by DebugDad LLC, a Virginia limited liability company. These terms cover your use of www.debugdad.com and any website we generate or host for you. By using the site or subscribing to a plan, you're agreeing to them. We've kept them in plain English on purpose.

Effective date:

The Service

DebugDad builds AI-generated websites. You fill out an intake form about your business, our system generates a site, and you get a free watermarked preview, viewable inside the preview window on debugdad.com. Sign in to claim it and it's yours to keep, free.

A paid subscription is what puts your site live on the internet: Starter hosts it at its own address with the watermark off and a working contact form; Pro adds a custom domain, a form inbox, SEO tools, and monthly concierge changes. Current tiers and prices are listed on our services page.

AI disclosure (FTC compliance): The websites we generate are produced using artificial intelligence. The AI uses the business information you provide to produce copy, layout, and design choices. No human author writes the content from scratch. By claiming a site or subscribing, you acknowledge this and confirm that the information you submitted is accurate and represents your business.

We may improve, change, or retire platform features over time, but while your subscription is active we'll keep providing the service you're paying for. We won't pull the rug out from under a live site.

Payment & Refunds

All subscription prices are in USD and billed through Stripe, monthly or annually, at the price shown at checkout. Custom Build projects are quoted and invoiced separately. The price shown is the price: no deposits, no surprise invoices.

You see the full preview of your site before you ever pay a dime, so you know exactly what you're getting. You can cancel anytime, and cancellation takes effect at the end of the period you've already paid for. We don't issue prorated refunds for unused time, including on annual plans, so pick the billing interval that fits.

One exception, because it's only fair: if a technical error on our end keeps us from providing the service you paid for, DebugDad LLC will either fix it at no charge or refund the affected period. We won't keep your money for something we didn't deliver.

For auto-renewal, how to cancel, failed payments, and what happens when a subscription ends, see Section 03 (Subscriptions & Cancellation) below.

Subscriptions & Cancellation

Starter and Pro are recurring subscriptions, billed monthly or annually through Stripe.

Auto-renewal, please read this carefully: Your subscription renews automatically at the end of each billing period (each month, or each year on an annual plan). By subscribing, you authorize DebugDad LLC to charge your payment method on file each billing cycle until you cancel. You will not receive a separate notice before each renewal charge.

How to cancel: Use the billing portal (Manage billing from your site dashboard) or email us at admin@debugdad.com with the subject line "Cancel subscription", anytime, either way. Your plan stays active through the end of the current billing period and will not renew after that. There are no cancellation fees and no minimum contract period.

What happens when a subscription ends, whether you cancel or a payment fails: your site comes off the web and reverts to the free preview. Your design and content are preserved, nothing is deleted, but the site is no longer live, the watermark returns, and any custom domain or debugdad.com subdomain is detached. Resubscribe and we'll put everything back live.

Failed payments:If a renewal payment fails, we'll email you and Stripe will retry for a grace period, during which your site stays up. If payment still doesn't go through, your subscription ends and your site reverts to the free preview as described above.

Price changes: We will notify you by email at least 30 days before any price increase takes effect on your subscription, and it will only apply from your next renewal, never mid-cycle, giving you time to cancel if you choose.

The free tier:An unclaimed preview expires 72 hours after it's generated. Sign in to claim it and it sticks around for free, viewable inside the preview window on debugdad.com. We reserve the right to change what the free tier includes over time, but a claimed free site won't be deleted without warning.

Domain Registration (Pro)

Pro includes a custom domain, registered in your name: you are the legal registrant of record under ICANN rules, not us. DebugDad LLC acts as your agent to register the domain on your behalf using the name, email address, phone number, and US mailing address you provide. This contact information is required by ICANN and is kept on file with the registrar (it is no longer publicly listed in WHOIS by default as of 2025).

While your Pro subscription is active, we cover the registration and renewal costs. Premium-priced domains are excluded from the included-domain benefit.

If you cancel, the domain is still yours. It stays registered to you, and we'll help you transfer it to your own registrar so you can manage future renewals. After a transfer, renewal is your responsibility; if a domain lapses due to non-renewal, DebugDad LLC is not responsible for loss of the domain or any resulting service interruption.

Service Delivery

Subscribing puts your already-generated site live:

Starter: Live at your debugdad.com subdomain typically within minutes of checkout.
Pro: Same, plus your custom domain, registration and DNS propagation can take from a few minutes up to 24 to 48 hours.
Custom Build (quoted separately): Timeline agreed in writing as part of your project scope.

"Live" means the site is accessible at your assigned URL (or your custom domain, once registered and propagated). These are estimates, not guarantees. If we're running late, reach out and we'll make it right.

Your Responsibilities

Your site is built from what you tell us. Please give us accurate, complete information about your business. If the intake form says your shop opens at 9 AM, the website will say your shop opens at 9 AM.

You confirm that you own or have the right to use any content, branding, logos, or images you provide. Don't give us someone else's trademark or photos you don't have rights to. If a third party brings a claim against DebugDad LLC because of content or materials you supplied, you agree to defend and indemnify us against that claim.

If your site collects messages from visitors through its contact form, you're responsible for how you use your visitors' information. We store it on your behalf, but it's your customer data.

If you have an active subscription, you agree to keep your billing information current in Stripe. Failure to do so may result in service interruption.

Intellectual Property & DMCA

Simple split: you own your site's content: the copy, business details, and branding on the website we deliver to you. Do what you like with it.

DebugDad LLC owns the platform: the generation pipeline, AI prompting system, templates, component library, design system, and all underlying technology. Subscribing doesn't transfer any of that to you.

DMCA copyright notices: DebugDad LLC has registered a designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office pursuant to 17 U.S.C. § 512. If you believe content on a DebugDad-hosted site infringes your copyright, send a written notice to admin@debugdad.com with: (1) identification of the copyrighted work claimed to be infringed, (2) identification of the material and its location, (3) your contact information, (4) a statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized, and (5) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are authorized to act. We will respond promptly.

Acceptable Use

Don't use DebugDad to build sites for anything illegal, or for content involving hate speech, harassment, defamation, fraud, or exploitation. Don't attack, scrape, probe, or abuse the platform. Don't misrepresent your business in a way that could harm customers who rely on your site.

We reserve the right to refuse service or take down a generated site that violates this section. If we do, we will tell you why. We'd rather never have to use this.

Termination

By you: You can stop using the service at any time. To cancel a subscription, see Section 03.

By us: DebugDad LLC may suspend or terminate your access for a material violation of these terms, with reasonable notice, unless the violation involves illegal activity, in which case we may act immediately. If we terminate your access for a violation, refunds are at our discretion.

Platform discontinuation: If DebugDad LLC ever discontinues the hosting platform entirely (not related to any violation by you), we will provide at least 90 days' advance notice and offer a data export so you can migrate your site.

Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, TITLE, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, DebugDad LLC is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, punitive, or consequential damages arising from your use of the service or your website, including but not limited to lost profits, lost revenue, lost data, or loss of business opportunity. Our total liability for any claim is capped at the amount you actually paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We work hard to keep everything running smoothly, but we can't promise the service will be uninterrupted or error-free. Nobody honestly can.

A few specifics on Pro features: uptime monitoring means we watch your site and get alerted when something breaks. It is not an uptime guarantee or SLA. The monthly backup is an export of your site's content and design spec, not a full archive of a running website. Concierge changes are content and design tweaks within your existing site, made at our reasonable discretion, not custom development work.

Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Any disputes that can't be resolved informally will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Fairfax County, Virginia, and you consent to that jurisdiction and venue.

If you have a concern, please email us first. We'd much rather sort things out directly than through courts.

Changes to These Terms

If we update these terms, we'll post the new version here with a new effective date. For material changes, like changes to your legal rights, we'll email you at least 14 days in advance if we have your contact on file; subscription price changes always get at least 30 days' notice, as described in Section 03. Continuing to use the service after a change takes effect means you accept the updated terms.
